In its Tc-99m Pertechnetate form eluted from the generator, it is used intraveneously in thyroid, salivary gland, cerebral, cardiac and vascular, lacrimal duct, gastrointestinal hemorrhage, arthro-scintigraphy, organ perfusion scintigraphy, and ectopic gastric mucosa localization. Additionally, it is used for labeling the kits containing various carrier agents.

99Mo/99mTc generator contains fission product Molibdenium-99 (99Mo) adsorbed on aluminum oxide (Al2O3) in a glass column. Technetium-99m (99mTc), formed by the decay of 99Mo, is a radioactive isotope with a half-life of 6 hours.
